Ramadan Reminder 6

“The most beloved deeds to Allaah are the continuous ones, not matter how little.” -hadeeth

Choose those (voluntary) deeds that you will be able to be continuous and consistent in based on your ability and strength, for consistency in even the smallest of deeds is one of the greatest avenues by which to achieve Allaah’s love.  He says in a hadeeth qudsy:

“My slave continues to draw closer to me through voluntary deeds, until I love him; so when I have loved him, I become his hearing with which he hears, his sight with which he sees, his hand which he stretches forth, and his feet with which he walks*.”

*The actual meaning of the hadeeth is that when Allaah loves a person, He guides his hearing so that he only listens to the permissible and protects his hearing from the forbidden; likewise his sight, he looks at the permissible and refrains from looking at the forbidden.  As for his hands and feet, He guides the person to use his hands and feet only for the permissible and protects him from using them for the forbidden.  In other words, this hadeeth is not to be taken literally.  Allaah is in the heavens, mustawin on His throne and He is not present “in” any of His creation, nor does He exist “in” any of His creation.  This is the belief the Prophet – peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him – and what he taught to his companions, and that is the belief of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah.  Allaah Knows best.*
