From Saheeh al-Bukhari:
With the start of the last ten days of Ramadan, the Prophet used to tighten his waist belt (i.e. work hard) and used to pray all the night, and used to keep his family awake for the prayers.
We’ve passed the halfway point, and many of us may be losing our stamina, feeling wiped out, ready to call it quits! Totally understandable…fasting in the summer is hard! Just remember that it was on the last leg of the month, during the last ten nights, that the prophet – peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him – used to exert himself to the utmost, and encourage his family to do the same.
So let’s not let ourselves slack off. Keep praying taraweeh, read as much qur’an as you can, keep rackin’ up those good deeds. Let’s tighten our waist belts, roll up our sleeves, fill up our gas tanks, recharge our batteries, whatever you wanna call it! Don’t let this extra-blessed time pass us by, because we don’t know if we’ll get to witness it again.
May Allaah accept from all of us, ameen.
